Note №13
Autonomous Paintings
28 May, 2025
The novelty of Eternal Harmony and PI lies in how they challenge our conventional understanding of a painting.
Eternal Harmony pushes the painting beyond the limits of a single image. Each viewing is different, and the audience must experience one painting as an endless series of images, constantly shifting and evolving.
Perfect Imitation goes even further, moving past the undeniably captivating yet somewhat distant variability of Harmony. Here, the painting becomes a machine, inviting the viewer to explore the creative process alongside it.
But this is still more technology than art. It employs certain functions of art to explore modes of thinking required for interacting with more dynamic, personalized, and sensorial environments.
The outcome of developing and combining these technologies should be the emergence of autonomous generative interfaces that transform in response to the perceptual reactions of those who experience them.
This is what Rilato becomes: an interface for entering into a relationship with the psychic dimension.
